Jaime Portal Luchini, a musician and songwriter, was born in Lima, Peru. He plays the guitar, keyboard, bass guitar; as well as being able to utilize sequences, effects, computer, voices, and arrangements within an eclectic style and sound.
He is also a graphic artist. He specializes in drawing, paint, and design.
In earlier years, he began to listen to the Beatles, who were his first musical influence, and later found inspiration in artists such as Mike Oldfield, Pink Floyd, Charly García, Bjork, and many more.
His first compositions began to appear with depressive, introspective, and dense songs. The yeilded a sense of loneliness.
With studies of guitar, piano, and harmony; Jaime has performed music of varied kinds and sensations, but with the an equal quality.
In 1998, Jaime Portal Luchini and Julio Flores created Plaka, a pop-rock and ethnic fusion group, creating a CD by 2000 entitled Zona Testigo. Some of Plaka's songs; apart from the use of guitars, keyboards, and sequencers; used traditional instruments from Asia, like the Bouzouki, Zheng, Sitar and Balalaika. Moreover, they invited musicians and actors to dramatize some songs in various concerts. Meanwhile, he had begun to teach music at some academies and doing works in recording studios.
One year later, he joined Lanada as keyboardist. He also took part in the group called Quarter Note that diffuses world music. Some months after, he opened a music rental store, where he had spent time rehearsing and learning about musical software and digital design.
After a project named Biocosmica, composed his brother Jimy and himself, he recorded a demo by means of both instrumental and electronic composition.
His first solo works were recorded under the name Deja que se vayan, where he played every instrument with the exception of drums. He had also made the design of the cover of the CD.
At the same time, he composes under the name of Sexsonica, a virtual band with sexual music, samples, loops, mixes, and erotic rhythms, and it is made for a website: Sexualsong.
Jaime Portal Luchini's music continues to maintain the completely personal style and as of today all works are done independently.
